WEST PALM BEACH -- The King, Arnold Palmer, returned to the Palm Beaches Monday morning to take part in the grand opening festivities for the re-designed West Palm Beach Municipal Golf Course.

Palmer joined Mayor Lois Frankel and other dignitaries to officially re-open the golf course.

Arnie won the West Palm Beach Invitational 50 years ago on the same course -- and hit the ceremonial first tee shot.

Palmer said he has fond memories of this course and his victory over Pete Cooper in a playoff. Palmer has won 92 golf tournaments worldwide. The 80 year old Palmer still plays golf twice a week.
