Palm Beach Gardens doctor busted in drugs for sex sting
SINGER ISLAND, Fla. -- Police arrested a doctor for prescribing oxycodone in exchange for sex Thursday night, and told police he made a mistake letting "his little head think for his big head," according to the police report.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's drug task force had arranged a meeting with Dr. Scott Baren Oster, 45, of Valencia Gardens Avenue in Palm Beach Gardens, using a confidential informant. The informant and Oster agreed Oster would come to a Sea Spray Hotel room and write prescriptions to a man who would then leave the room so Oster could have sex with the informant and two other women. Trouble is for Oster, everyone was working for the cops.
According to the arrest affadavit, Oster showed up at the hotel at 9:57 PM Thursday, met the informant, two female undercover agents and one male undercover agent. After a brief conversation, Oster pulled out two blank prescription forms and filled them out for a total of 240 Percocet pills. Oster was immediately arrested.
At PBSO headquarters, Oster admitted to prescribing the drugs without a proper medical examination or having seen the agent before. According to the arrest affadavit, when asked if he realized what he had done was wrong he said "I let my little head think for my big head."
Oster remained held Friday afternoon on two counts of trafficking in oxycodone, with a total weight of 204 grams. He is jailed on a $1 million bond.
Internet listings identify Oster as an internist with offices in Southfield, Mich., a suburb of Detroit. The county jail listed him with a residence on Valencia Gardens just north of the Gardens Mall.
