Man in wig robs Stuart pawn shop

An armed robbery occurred Thursday afternoon at Colorado Bullion Pawn in Stuart.

Employees told police that the suspect came into the business and started to smash the front glass display, telling the employees that if they rang the alarm that he would shoot them. The employees did just the opposite and rang the alarm anyway. They then sought refuge in a secure area of the store until law enforcement arrived.

The man fled in an older model Chrysler Lebaron that was recovered moments later abandoned at the Park Square Apartment Complex on Palm City Road.

No injuries were reported.

Deputies are looking for a black male, approximately 6’0, about 200 lbs., wearing a dark purple or black long-sleeve shirt, black pants, white tennis shoes and a brown wig.  He was armed with an unknown-type handgun.
