St. Lucie County Food Stamp Applications, Food Destroyed By Fay
Comments 0 | Recommend 0If you live in St. Lucie County and rely on food stamps, you can be re-imbursed for any food damaged from Tropical Storm Fay.
Starting this week, you can come to the DCF building along U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce and re-apply for the month of August food stamps. This is for those of you who lost food due to spoilage or power outages. More than 2,500 people have already turned in applications this week. Shawna Mackin with DCF says, "Most of the losses we are seeing are due to power outages when food spoils in the refrigerator or freezer, but we have also had flood damage where they have lost dry goods as well."
You must fill out the paper work within 10 days from the date you lost your food. You can also fill out a form online at: www.dcf.state.fl.us/ess/ under the Forms, Reports, Policy Manuel section.
