Liz Quirantes

Liz Quirantes

Liz Quirantes is actively involved in her community. She anchors the 5, 6 and 11 pm newscasts for CBS 12, but remarkably finds the time to be active in many worthwhile causes. Encouraging children and supporting causes that improve their lives is a passion for Liz. One project that has claimed her heart is “Forever Family,” a non-profit charity that works to find homes for foster children. Each Tuesday, Liz features a foster child on her 5 pm newscast. Those reports have generated hundreds of calls and resulted in many adoptions.

Liz is also on the H.O.P.E. Project, which provides low-cost mammography to the underserved and uninsured women of Palm Beach and Martin counties. Funded solely by grants and donations, Liz was instrumental in fundraising that allowed the mobile, mammography van to go digital.

Another project Liz is involved with is “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” donating her time at many local events, serving as emcee for fundraisers and airing stories about breast cancer, both inspiring and educational.

Her awards have been many. Most recently, Liz was honored as a 2010 Hispanic Woman of Distinction for South Florida, the “Women in Power” award from the National Council of Jewish Women and the “Community Leadership” award from Delta Kappa Gamma.

Liz was also thrilled to win the first place trophy in the “Dancing for the Stars” Ballroom Dance Competition benefitting the Kravis Center’s S*T*A*R Series.

A graduate of the University of Miami, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Telecommunication. Liz is married and resides in Jupiter with her husband, son and daughter.
