In these modern times of computers and electronic banking, you might think of identity theft as modern crime, But this case dates back some 30 years. Palm Beach County Sheriff's investigators say the man in this picture, Juan Manuel Hinojosa has been posing as somebody else since the 70's. And for 30 years he's made another man's life hundreds of miles away a living hell.

For decades Juan Manuel Hinojosa has done everything possible to make everyone think he is really Javier Munoz "Everything about my life... it's like a living hell, says the real Javier Munoz.

We spoke with him on the phone from his house on the US-Mexico border in a town called Edinberg, Texas.

Investigators say Hinojosa has racked up an outstanding hospital bill, destroyed credit, and even was arrested for DUI here in Palm Beach County. Everything was done in Javier Munoz's name. And ever since the mid 1980's Munoz says Hinojoso's actions have destroyed him financially and nearly emotionally. He's been routinely denied and harassed by creditors. "I tried to get a house and I couldn't do it. And you know every time when I applied I would ask them why is it that I'm not qualifying", says Munoz.

Before the internet and free, easily accessible credit reports Munoz could never get a straight answer. He's even spent time in jail, detained at the border and years of trying to clear things up with the Feds, again all because of Hinojosa.

Palm Beach County detective Travis Cardinal is helping to track down Juan Manuel Hinojosa and thinks he's still in the area. "We know that he works in the lawn care business. He was actually employed in West Palm Beach, but was living in the Lantana area. His family is still here. So it's unlikely that he left, his wife and his children behind", says Detective Cardinal.

Meanwhile, Munoz continues to live in fear that another man's actions will continue to do damage. "The biggest fear is being with my family, being pulled over for what ever reason and end up in jail. It's an ugly feeling", says Munoz.

Detectives want you to take a good look at this face. For 30 years this man, Juan Manuel Hinojosa has been abusing Javier Munoz's name and credit, and identity.

If you recognize him, call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS. You can help end one man's self described "living hell."
