Retired police officer sentenced for tossing traffic tickets for sex
WEST PALM BEACH — A former Riviera Beach K-9 officer convicted of trading traffic tickets for sex was sentenced to seven years in prison Friday.
Maurice Morris was convicted after a jury trial in December of attempted sexual battery, bribery and official misconduct. He faced a maximum of 35 years in prison.
Prosecutors said Morris followed a woman to her home, locked his K-9 in her bathroom, and had sex with the woman in exchange for tossing two traffic tickets. Defense attorneys argued Morris went to the woman's house because she said she had a letter proving she didn't know her license had been suspended.
