Toddler Dies From Cocaine Overdose

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Department of Children and Families acknowledges it acted slowly in the case of a toddler who died of a cocaine overdose.

Darius Clark passed away April 21 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Authorities say they don't know how the toddler ingested the drugs because parents, Tocarra Nobles, 25, and Vincent Clark, 29, are not cooperating. Riviera Beach Police Sergeant Patrick Galligan said the amount of drugs in the baby's system were "strong enough to kill an adult."

DCF had an open investigation against his parents at the time.

According to our news partners at the Palm Beach Post that investigation actually began in 2004, before Darious was born. Investigators learned that his father may have been abusing another child and using drugs.

DCF acknowledged it should have seen the danger signs before Darius died.
