9-foot Burmese Python found in Vero Beach backyard

VERO BEACH -- A nine and a half foot long Burmese Python was found last night in a backyard in Vero Lakes Estates, near Sebastian.

The snake was turned over to Indian River Care and Control, where it remains now. Eventually, it will be turned over to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Bruce Dangerfield, Vero Beach animal control officer said several big snakes have been found in Indian River County over the past three years. The largest ever discovered there was 16-feet-long.
