The Let's Move Commit to Change Physical Activity Challenge is easy. Just complete 30 minutes of sustained physical activity each day and log your minutes by clicking on the image above. Any type of sustained physical activity counts. Walk, bike, jazzercize, play a game of hoops, rollerblade, garden, tap dance or perform any other type of physical activity you like.

You can log in your minutes each day, multiple times a day, as often as you want. Or you can keep track of all of your activity in a personal log then come back to our website and log your minutes at your convenience. Please use the same e-mail address throughout the campaign when you log in.

This is a community challenge. Your minutes will be added to the total community challenge numbers. The sky is the limit! Let's Move to better health in a big way!

The AKMF is a charity not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a primary goal to support education, perform charity works for needy and enhance healthy environment through sports. The foundation has partnered with other charitable organizations like YMCA, Florida Nepal Association, and St. Ann Place (a homeless center). The funds raised are used 100% for helping others. In last 7 years, the Foundation has successfully awarded 9 Academic Scholarships to college students, supported 22 kids for day camps at YMCA, annually feeding 200-250 homeless people in December and two blood drives every year to help the needy.

5-2-1-0 is a healthy lifestyle campaign to help county residents attainoptimal health. The goal is to change unhealthy behaviors by creatingsupportive environments where the people live, learn, work and play.

The 5-2-1-0 message promotes these four key behaviors:

5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day

2 hours or less of screen time (TV, computer, smartphones, video games, tablets, etc.)

1 hour or more of physical activity a day

0 sweetened beverages a day sweetened beverages aday

The Palm Beach County Community Call to Action on Obesity is comprised ofover 50 community stakeholders representing over 30 sectors throughout thecommunity. Our coalition subject experts consist of parents, teachers,students, seniors, community leaders, elected officials, and other workforceprofessionals from various backgrounds.

Thank you for your interest in the 2015 Lets Move: Commit to Changecampaign, sponsored by Palm Healthcare Foundation.  Palm Healthcare Foundation is partnering withCBS12 and local healthcare, business, city, youth and community leaders tomount a county-wide promotional campaign with a focus on physical activity,nutrition and healthy behaviors. TheLets Move: Commit to Change challenge will be held January 10, 2015 to January 31, 2015, theperfect time of year to tie in with New Years resolutions and to partner withyou to promote health and wellness.  Ourhope is to create a robust, mutually beneficial partnership that will transformthe health of our residents.

 

About Lets Move: Commit to Change

 

PalmHealthcare Foundation and CBS12 first launched Lets Move: Commit to Change in April 2013, piggy-backing on FirstLady Michelle Obamas national LetsMove! initiative.  Our objective forthe campaign is to motivate Palm Beach County residents to take charge of theirhealth by committing to healthy behaviors and to recognizing the importance ofexercise and nutrition to reduce diabetes/ obesity"one of our foundationsstrategic priority areas.  A central partof the campaign is inspiring residents to complete thirty minutes of physical activity every day and to log theirminutes through the Lets Move app.  As a result of our 2014 campaign,660,745 minutes of activity were logged (the equivalent of walking from West Palm Beachto Los Angeles 12.76 times). 

 

The 2015 LetsMove: Commit to Change

 

The 2015 LetsMove: Commit to Change campaign will begin on Saturday,January 10th and will run for the entire month of January. (Pre-campaign mediacoverage will begin in December 2014.)  Wewill reach Palm Beach County residents through:

 

Daily/Weekly Multi-Media Engagement

       Families, individuals, andcommunity/workplace teams will be engaged in the campaign as they sign-up forthe challenge through CBS 12s Lets Movemicrosite, and subsequently, as they log in daily/weekly to record theirminutes of activity.

Comprehensive NewsCoverage and Advertising Promotion

      CBS12news stories will feature people and organizations involved in the campaign andcommunity partners with expertise in physical activity/nutrition.

      CBS12news anchors Suzanne Boyd and Eric Roby will champion the Lets Move challenge by participating and reporting out the numberof minutes logged by the Palm Beach County community on a weekly basis.

      PalmBeach Broadcasting will air promotional announcements encouraging residents tolog-in and participate.  Banner ads willappear on the radio station websites and mobile products. Palm BeachBroadcasting radio personalities will participate and challenge the team at CBS12.

 

Community Events

      Thecampaign will promote and participate in highly visible community events toencourage participants to sign up for the LetsMove challenge.  In 2014, eventsincluded: Saturday morning Boot Camps at the West Palm Beach Green Market, apresence at the Kids Marathon at the South Florida Fairgrounds and a Zumba Demoand free boot-camp with Reggie D at Wellington Ultima Fitness.

       The challenge offers local businesses to participate in Lets Move by forming teams and creating a healthy competitionamong staff. 

       The Lets Move campaign will launch atWellington Plazas First Annual Wellness Fair hosted by Bainbridge inpartnership with Palm Healthcare Foundation on Saturday, January 10thfrom        10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  This event will feature healthy cookingdemonstrations, fitness classes and demos, health screenings, raffle prizes andgiveaways, a live performance by The Voices Michaela Page and much more.
