Stuart House Fire A Result of Arson?

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

(Stuart)  Stuart fire officials believea house fire on Normand Street Monday night may be the result of arson. Neighbors say the homeowner was inside taking a shower, until his nextdoor neighbor rescued him

"All I saw was a neighbor running up banging on the door," said Marty Ellis. "The steps caught on fire behind him, he got stuck up on the deck and then he had to jump from the deck while the owner jumped off the back patio."

The homeowner escaped seemingly without injury. He did not want to speak with the media, but appeared in shock over what was left of his home, reportedly a loss of more than $250,000 worth of property and belongings.

Fire officials believe the fire started in the carport underneath the home. Anyone with information is urged to call police.
