Cleaning-Up After Fay

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The clean-up continues. Resident Tommy Logsdon says, "I am getting too old to go through this every 2 - 4 years that's the problem." Logsdon and his family are tearing up what's left of his home after Fay destroyed the inside, "This is the 4th time I've had to take my drywall out from 4 feet, replace my cabinets, take my furniture out."

His Fort Pierce home floods everytime a storm hits. He has worked 16 hour days to remove drywall fast before it mildews. Pictures show water surrounding his home, taking over newly furnished rooms, "This was all carpet here, we just remodeled our house from the last flood."

Thankfully, Logsdon has flood insurance. He says he'll still pay thousands of dollars to fix Fay's damage, "It's still a lot of money out of your pocket. A lot of money. So, no matter how you look at it you are still lost, no matter what."

The last hurricane, he paid more than 70,000 dollars. Now, he's dealing with 2 mortgages. Everywhere you look, water marks show Fay's wrath and puddles in the backyard show where she has been.

The Logsdon family has come together to get the house cleaned-up. Hopefully, now, he can get assistance from somewhere else to try and re-build.
