Palm Beach County Student Drug and Alcohol Survey
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The brand new statistics out today.
It looks like local kids are "saying yes" to "saying no." The Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition says the number of kids abusing drugs is down.
When it comes to marijuana, authorities say a little more than 11 percent of students in Palm Beach County report having smoked the drug in the past month. That's down from 13.5 percent in the year 2000.
Alcohol continues to be the substance most abused among kids and teenagers in Palm Beach County. About 33 percent of students say they have used alcohol in the past 30 days. Even though that number seems high, it's down about 3 percent since 2000, according to officials.
The coalition is made up of 150 different groups that do outreach in local schools.
Kids are surveyed every two years about cigarettes, drugs and alcohol.
