Father of Port St. Lucie boy killed on Christmas Day speaks
The father of the little Port St. Lucie boy who's mother confessed to killing him speaks out. Tuesday, Micheal Allegra was released from jail on unrelated charges and now's he's out and talking about his son's death.
Michael Allegra is in one word shocked, "In my mind I think he is still there. I haven't really grasped that he's not here."
He hasn't grasped that his 8 year-old son, Tristan, was murdered. The accused killer: his own mother. Allegra say, "I never questioned her care of the child and I still don't know what happened. Only she does and she will tell people when she is ready."
Deputies say on Christmas Day Eryn Allegra smothered her son to death at a Port St. Lucie Holiday Inn. Then she made a failed suicide attempt. "I want to believe she didn't have hate for the child. I want to believe it was something else that influenced her, but the only person who is going to say that is her."
Michael and Eryn have been separated for more than six years. Michael says Tristan spent about half his time with him. They spent many days fishing, until early this year. Michael violated his probation on drug charges and was sent to jail, but Michael never forgot Tristan. He says, "Everyone in there knows I was making pictures for him and everyone was like< "I don't know how you do it, you're not getting any response."
He doesn't know what would have made Eryn snap. If someone had seen any signs of this coming they would have stopped her, "She was very closed mouthed with everybody. With her family, my family and that is just what she chose. She would never tell anybody why."
Right now, all Michael is worried about is his son's funeral and life without his son. Michael says, "Everytime I see a picture of a little blonde haired boy I'm going to be thinking of my kid."
No official plans have been made for Tristan's funeral. If you would like to help the family you can send donations to Gulfstream Business Bank.
