Klein introduces amendment to health care reform bill
U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, R-Boca Raton, introduced today an amendment to the health care reform bill that would put off any changes to the Medicare Advantage plan for one year.
The second part of the amendment would grandfather in 100 percent of Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties, allowing them to keep their current plans as long as they choose to do so.
Klein's amendment freezes Medicare Advantage rates at a maximum of 106 percent of Medicare fee-for-service rates and adds a hold harmless provision which works to grandfather in South Florida beneficiaries.
The health care reform bill -- the Affordable Health Care for America Act -- is pending in the U.S. House.
