Thieves Steal Construction Equipment, Use It To Rip Out ATM
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Authorities are investigating yet another stolen ATM in Palm Beach County this morning.
Police say someone stole heavy construction equipment and used it to tear an ATM from its foundation at the Bank of America at 5470 S. Central Boulevard in Jupiter. Authorities believe the thieves used a front-end loader to pull off the crime.
The theft was reported around 4:30 am Tuesday. Police found the loader behind the bank.
The bank's alarm company has video footage showing the ATM being loaded into the bed of a large white commercial flat-bed truck, police say.
A similar crime was reported in West Palm Beach on November 20th. In that case, someone used a front-end loader to rob an ATM from the Washington Mutual bank in the 10000 block of Northlake Boulevard.
The robbery happened around 4 am. Thieves stole the loader from a construction site and used it to pry the cover off the ATM and steal cash, authorities said.
Suspects in both cases remain on the loose.
