Grandson Accused of Abuse Could Face More Charges

In a case receiving attention on national news networks, a local teenager may be in even more trouble.  The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office tells CBS 12, 18-year Michael Alfinez could face additional charges.

Earlier this week Alfinez made his first court appearance in front of a Palm Beach County judge.  So far Alfinez is charged with elderly abuse and firing a gun in public.

Detectives say Alfinez manipulated his 85-year old grandmother into making outrageous comments in front of a camera.  In the videos, the elderly woman often spews profanities and holds up a gun.

Some of the clips of the grandmother ended up on one of the notorious "Gangstas 'n' Thugs" videos.  Deputies confiscated additional pieces of video during a traffic stop.

In one of the clips released this week by the Sheriff's Office, you can hear a male voice prompting, "Say 'G's up, ho's down.'" There's a pause.  Again he says,"G's up, ho's down."  Then the elderly woman, wearing a black ski mask over her face, repeats, "G's up, ho's down."

In that same video seized by deputies, we also see young men firing pistols out of a moving car and vandalizing Christmas lawn decorations in front of several homes.  Detectives say Michael Alfinez is one of the young men involved in those acts.  The potential new charges against Alfinez apparently relate to the vandalism.

At their son's court hearing this week, Raymond and Michelle Alfinez disputed the charges filed so far.  They maintain Michael did not abuse his grandmother and questioned the tactics of Sheriff's deputies.

The Sheriff's Office also says the other young men in the videos could also face new charges.
