DELRAY BEACH-A Delray Beach man placed a call to 911, after finding his neighbors left for dead in their condo parking lot.

"I heard the shots," the neighbor told the 911 operator. "I ran outside and I saw these two people lying in the road."

Friday Delray Beach Police released the call they received after the violent carjacking of an elderly man and woman on November 9.

82-year old Russell Keegan and 90-year old Gertrude Stern had been dining out. They were returning to their condos at The Pines complex, when the attack occurred.

Keegan was shot in the neck. Stern suffered a broken hip.

"Is he bleeding very badly?" asked the operator.

"Pretty badly," replied the neighbor. Then he called, "Russell?" and told the operator, "He's still conscious, still conscious."

Thanks to tips from the public, police recovered Keegan's car in West Palm Beach. Detectives also arrested 22-year old Shamsiddin Saleem, charging him with attempted second degree murder and armed carjacking.

Police are still looking for at least one other suspect. If you know anything, call Delray Beach Police, or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
