After 4 years of a stalled adoption process, a West Palm Beach woman is reunited with her adoptive daughter. The adoption was finalized during Christmas.

Adoption approved for West Palm Beach mom, daughter after 4 years

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- An emotional adoption is finally approved for one West Palm Beach family.

The magical moment for Angie McDonald and her daughter Jada Thao has taken four-years to achieve. Her fight meant pleading with senators in Washington D.C and taking her story to the national media, speaking with CBS's Wyatt Andrews on 60 minutes.

Angie adopted Jada as a seven-month old baby from a Vietnam orphanage. But Vietnamese and U.S. officials stalled the adoption process.

Angie's very public fight for her daughter last year, resulted in other families joining with her. The Vietnamese government approved the stalled adoptions. The email that changed everything came two days before Christmas. Then on Christmas Day, Angie officially became Jada's adoptive mother. Now she's working on making up for lost time and teaching Jada English.

"I'm just obsessed with her right now. I just adore her," said Angie.
