Meal Deals: The Power of Beans

Beans are not only the magical fruit, it's also a good way to save on your grocery bill. Beans cost about a dollar a pound or cheaper. It's also a great source of protein. You can cut back on your meat budget if you supplement with beans. You can also add them to anything from pasta, to salads, to an entire side dish. When I was growing up I remember my mother soaking dried beans over night and then cooking them for an hour. You don't have to do that to get great savings. Canned beans are still cheap and are fast to heat up providing a good serving of protein.
