Dangerous teddy bears seized at Miami International Airport
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers confiscated three cartons of teddy bears made in China during a routine inspection of cargo containers.
During the inspection process the officers noticed that the glass eyes on the bears were not securely attached and that they could become loose posing a chocking hazard to young children. The Officers sent 16 samples to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for further testing and evaluation. The (CPSC) found them to be in violation of the Federal Hazardous Substance Act for small parts requirements. The CBP Officers at MIA then seized the entire shipment of 240 bears.
