25-year old Treasure Coast man arrested 61 times, now charged with more felonies
A high speed car chase in St. Lucie County led to the arrest of 25-year old Michael Antwoin Bryant. Those cuffs are familiar to Bryant, in his short life span he's been arrested 61 times, with 24 felonies - police say he has an extensive violent criminal record and is a well-known gang member.
Bryant's arrest Monday began when witnesses saw him roughing up a girlfriend behind a business on W. Midway Road in Fort Pierce. A woman flagged down police when she saw the abuse.
When police tried to pull over Bryant's car, he fled. As Bryant entered the intersection of St. Lucie West Blvd. and SW Lake Charles Blvd. he didn't stop at the red light and plowed into a Jeep Cherokee. That driver was taken to Lawnwood Hospital with "serious bodily injuries" (possibly a punctured lung).
After the crash, Bryant fled on foot. After his arrest, Bryant told police he fled because "he was angry."
Bryant's girlfriend told police he is "extremely violent."
Apparently law enforcement agrees, a quick check shows that Bryant's criminal history includes 61 arrests with 24 felony arrests. He was just released from prison on February 18th. He is listed as a known gang member.
