Lose your job; Return the Hyundai

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

One big automaker offering a great deal to get you to buy. This one comes with some assurance.

Catch the game Sunday? Even though the Dolphins lost, Hyundai car dealers tried to score. A unique tactic offering not insurance, but assurance to get you car shopping again.

Car commercials aired during the playoffs: You buy a Hyundai starting Monday, if you get transferred, go on disability or lose your job within a year, you can give the car back and walk away from your loan obligation.

CEO of Wallace Hyundai in Stuart says, "No obligation on your part whatsoever. You bring the car back and say, "Sorry my company has had a layoff and I can no longer afford this car." That's it."

Wallace believes this is the best way to help the customer and the car industry. Some consumers have doubts. On consumer says, "Is this going to decrease consumer responsibility? That would be my apprehension."

Wallace, however, has faith. He says this is just an extra incentive for those worried about their future, but need a car, "If you have just that one little advantage, in this case a huge advantage, I think it will make a difference."

He doesn't believe there is any downside for the retailer. He sees this as a way to take the stress out of car shopping during this tough economy.

No word on how long the deal will last. Also, if you return the car, it can not be completely beaten up.
