Unsettling Details in Case of Missing Child

Prosecutors say the case of missing 2-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony of Orlando is beginning to look like a homicide.

A detective testified in court that a Pontiac driven by the mother smelled of decomposition.  Investigators recovered the car after it was towed from a check-cashing business.  The car had been in the lot for several days. 

Caylee's mother, Casey, 22, was arrested Wednesday on charges of child neglect and criminal obstruction for allegedly lying to Orange County sheriff's detectives.

Caylee was reported missing last week by her mother, more than a month after Caylee's grandmother said she disappeared.

Casey's defense attorney said Casey last saw Caylee when she dropped her off with a babysitter, who detectives have not been able to prove exists, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

A judge set Casey Anthony's bond at $500,000. She was denied bail at a hearing last week.

Caylee's grandmother is now pleading for her daughter's release.  On CBS's Early Show, she said, "I don't think she can tell police anything.  She has her reasons why she can't be completely honest."

 At a news conference on Monday, Casey's defense attorney, Jose Baez, said his client was willing to cooperate with law enforcement but asked that any information should be used to help find Caylee and not prosecute his client.

"There is a reason for Casey lying to investigators, but cannot be disclosed at this time." Baez told the Associated Press.

The grandmother has alluded that her daughter may not know Caylee's location, but may know who has the child.

Caylee's grandmother says she thinks her daughter entrusted Caylee with the same person who has been threatening her, and that's why she can't be honest.
