Library Computer Use Up with DCF Closings

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Librarians at a Riviera Beach branch say they had a lot of people Monday looking to sign-up on-line for food stamps and Medicaid through The Department of Children and Families.  They showed up for free computer and internet access at the library.  The extra interest comes as a pair of local DCF offices closed Monday in Riviera Beach and Delray Beach, forcing people to hop on the net to register for help.

Librarians say, to make the sign-up as smooth as possible, bring change to pay for printing copies of your registration.  Also, allow plenty of time for registration.  It takes most people 30 minutes.  Librarian Pamela Bruner also suggests, "Maybe fill out the forms before hand because once you get on the computer time is limited. So when you are on the computer you can put all the information in at once."

Visit www.myflorida.com/accessflorida/ to register for DCF help.  You can also Call 1-866-76ACCESS for more information.  At that number, you can get information about places in Palm Beach County, besides the library, where you can use a computer and possibly receive registration help from a trained volunteer.
