Delray Man Facing Charges for Cutting Up Whale

DELRAY BEACH, FL --- An active investigation is underway on Delray Beach after a pigmy sperm whale washed up sometime Thursday morning.

Reports say someone used a pocket knife to cut off the whale's tail.

Two men are being questioned by national marine fisheries, as the whale is protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act and it is illegal to cut off it's tail.

It's not clear why the whale washed up on the beach.

Marine experts say the whale so far, seems to be healthy, although they did identify a bumb on it's head.

A witness told CBS 12 that he saw a man cutting the tail off of the whale who told him the tail was the tastiest part and he was going to make soup with it.
