Detectives issue alert after arresting man for gropings

LAKE WORTH-Detectives want to know if there are more victims of a man accused of groping two women.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says Carlos Cocuy, 46, rode a bicycle dressed in black, when he groped two women within minutes of each other.  The incidents happened Wednesday on Dixie Highway in Lake Worth, between 4th and 6th Avenues North. A witness told police he saw Cocuy put his bike into a white Ford van, with a tag number of M374TY. Deputies tracked down Cocuy at his home in Lake Clarke Shores.

He's charged with two misdemeanor counts of battery. After his arrest, Cocuy was released on his own recognizance.

Friday we found him back at work at his hair salon in West Palm Beach. Cocuy did not want to talk on camera, but told us the charges were a misunderstanding. He said he thought he knew one of the women.

The Sheriff's Office says it is putting out the word about Cocuy because of a series of incidents in the Lake Worth area where a man committed sex acts in front of adult and underage Hispanic women. The victims of the gropings Wednesday were both Hispanic.
