Ocala soldier dies in Afghanistan

Spc. Gary L. Gooch Jr., 22, of Ocala, died Thursday in Jeleward, Afghanistan, the Department of Defense said today.
Gooch died of wounds sustained when a bomb struck the vehicle he was riding in.
Spc. Aaron S. Aamot, 22, of Custer, Washington, also died in the explosion.
The men were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, out of Fort Lewis, Washington.
