Armed Robberies May Be Related
Police say the guys who robbed and shot customers at a Delray Beach Dunkin' Donuts last week may have committed several other recent armed holdups.
Surveillance video shows four masked gunmen rushing into the Dunkin' Donuts on West Atlantic Avenue in Delray last Wednesday night at about 10:30. One of the men was armed with a shotgun. They cleaned out the cash register, robbed customers at gunpoint and shot four people.
Then, the next night--Thanksgiving night--- about 9:15 surveillance video shows a group of masked thugs bursting into a Dunkin' Donuts in Tamarac in Broward County. One person was shot in that incident.
Police say in addtion to those two holdups, the same group may have robbed a Dunkin' Donuts in Sunrise and a 7-11 in Pompano Beach.
"We're trying to get the videos enhanced and doing everything we can do. It appears they are connected. We're trying to make for certain that they are and from there will give us a better, a better course of action on how to catch these guys," said Delray Beach Police spokesman Officer Jeff Messer.
The four people wounded in the Delray Beach Dunkin' Donuts attack are all expected to survive. Messer says their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Delray Beach Police say they're working with the Broward Sheriff's office, trying to solve these four armed robberies, in which a total of five people were shot.
