Boca salon uses fruit smoothies to smooth out hair

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Freshly blended fruits, vegetable and herbs are what's in store for your stressed out tresses at Jody Jack & Company Salon in Boca Raton.

Vanessa Bloom: Potatoes are wonderful for the hair, they actually strengthen the elasticity of the hair. They are actually great for controlling dandruff believe it or not.

Doesn't matter if you're a blonde, brunette, redhead or in between. the right mixture will enhance your hair, calm the frizz and leave your hair soft, sleek and sexy according to Jody Jack, creator of the juice bar for hair. She says it took a lot of research and trial and error to find a way to service her customers who didn't want harsh chemicals in their hair.

Jody Jack: I talked to my clients to see what their needs are, I have a lot of clients that have cancer, and their just freaked out about using chemicals you know, of course there is no such thing as organic hair color.

Vanessa Bloom, a stylist at the salon, says each smoothie is prepared fresh, on the spot when the client comes in. For a blond the combination could be something that includes olive oil and mustard.

Vanessa Bloom: The lemons are really great for blondes and carrots are really great for blondes too, lemons are a way for mother nature to brightness of the tones of blonde.

For brunettes.

Vanessa Bloom: Coco bean would be for brunettes, you place yogurt into the mixture, the lactic acid will soften the hair and pave the way for the emollition of the coco powder or the ground coffee beans.

We can't forget the red heads.

Vanessa Bloom: The carrots, strawberry and pomegranates will be for somebody more with my tone of hair.

We were there when a client showed up looking for a smoothie treatment. In about 10 minutes it was blended and her hair was treated, the entire process took about an hour from start to finish.

Vanessa Bloom: What we do is put them under a steamer, and the steamer helps open up the cuticle so it helps penetrate the moisture so it's not drying out the hair.

Michele Tishner just finished her treatment as we arrived at the salon says her hair was frizzy and so kinky when she walked in but you'd never know it.

Michele Tishner: It just conditions the hair, it adds a lot of shine to the hair, my hair feels healthy, which curly hair its really hard to get a healthy feeling, it's really been a great treatment.

Jack's says she's proud that after all of her research, she's been able to please her customers and create an environmentally friendly and health conscious product.

Jody Jack: Who knows what going to happen in the future, I'll have to research that.

The cost for a custom blended smoothie color boosting treatment at Jody Jack & Company will cost you between $35 and $50.
