BILL COSBY - FLORIDA CONCERT

MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) -- For a night, anyway, things were normal for Bill Cosby and those who remain fans of the embattled comedian. During Friday night's show in Melbourne, Florida, there were no protesters, hecklers -- and it seemed as though the weeks of headlines about alleged sexual assault never happened. Cosby performed for 90 minutes at a show and was received warmly. The adoring audience laughed along with the jokes and stood up to applaud him both when he came on stage and when he left. Radio stations offered cash and prizes to people who interrupted the performance. But there was only one protester on hand, a woman who held up a sign that read, "Rape is no joke."

AP correspondent Matt Sedensky reports the controversy over sexual assault allegations didn't seem to have any impact on the audience - which clearly enjoyed the show. ((note background music in cut))

BILL COSBY - COMEDIAN AND LAWYER COMMENT

MELBOURNE, Florida (AP) -- Bill Cosby says he knows that people "are tired" of his refusing to comment about the sexual assault allegations being made against him. But in a brief comment to the Florida Today newspaper before his Friday night show in Melbourne, the comedian says "a guy doesn't have to answer to innuendoes." In an apparent shot at the news media, Cosby added: "People should fact check." Cosby's attorney is also taking aim at the news of the allegations made by several women who claim the comedian drugged them then took advantage of them sexually. Martin Singer complained in a statement that the accusations against Cosby have, as he put it, "escalated far past the point of absurdity." He dismissed the claims as "fantastical," "unsubstantiated" and "uncorroborated" and says it is "long past time for this media vilification of Mr. Cosby to stop."

BILL COSBY - FALLOUT

UNDATED (AP) -- Bill Cosby had been on a career resurgence at age 77 -- but since the revival of sexual allegations against him began, parts of his comedic empire have crumbled. The comedian bowed out of appearances on two talk shows. NBC, the network where he reigned as head of his sitcom family during the 1980s and early 90s, canceled a new sitcom that was in the development stages. TV Land has pulled reruns of his old show from its lineup. Netflix indefinitely postponed a stand-up special starring the comedian. And eight of the more than three dozen performances on his comedy tour have been canceled, with reps for some of the venues noting that the sex scandal was the reason.

BOX OFFICE - "HUNGER GAMES" SEQUEL WINS

NEW YORK (AP) -- The thirst for the latest Hunger Games sequel isn't as strong as the others -- but it's still strong enough to capture the top of the box office list. "Mockingjay, Part 1" took in $123 million during its first weekend in theaters. That is, by far, the most a movie has taken in during a single weekend in a year that hasn't see many blockbuster films. But "Mockingjay" opens well below the $158 taken in by last year's "Catching Fire" sequel or the original, which took in $153 million. Meanwhile, last week's top film -- "Dumb and Dumber To" -- slid considerably. It's now fourth, with $13.8 million in ticket sales.

Let the games begin, again. The AP's Jamie Friar reports on this weekend's box office numbers.
