PHARRELL WILLIAMS - MARVIN GAYE LAWSUIT

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Pharrell Williams says he wanted the feel of a 1970s Marvin Gaye-type song -- but didn't steal from a Marvin Gaye song. The producer, singer and coach on "The Voice" has testified in a case in which he, Robin Thicke and rapper T.I. are accused of swiping parts of Gaye's "Got To Give It Up" for the 2013 hit "Blurred Lines." Williams says he grew up listening to Gaye's music and is familiar with the song he's accused of pilfering. But he insists he didn't use it to create Blurred Lines. Williams says it was only after his song was released that he noted similarities between his and Gaye's. Blurred Lines made more than $16 million in profits.

Here is sound of Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke and T.I.'s "Blurred Lines." The artists are being sued by Marvin Gaye's children who claim the song was improperly copied.

`AMERICAN IDOL' - ARETHA

DETROIT (AP) -- "American Idol" enlisted some Detroit star power to open last night's show. The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, did "I Will Survive" before the Top 8 guys performed. Franklin was also a mentor to the contestants. The Top 12 guys started the show. As each of the Top 8 was named, he got to perform for this week's vote. The last to make it was Quentin Alexander, who says he was getting plenty nervous as the clock ticked down. Tonight, the Top 8 ladies take the Idol stage.

MTV MOVIE AWARDS

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- They weren't up for the Oscars. But "The Fault In Our Stars," "Neighbors" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" are in the running for a movie award. They each have seven nominations for the MTV Movie Awards -- a trophy in the shape of a movie popcorn box. Other movies in the running are "22 Jump Street" and "Whiplash" -- with five nods each. Winners will be announced April 12 in Los Angeles.

BRUCE WILLIS - BROADWAY

NEW YORK (AP) -- Bruce Willis is headed for Broadway for the first time. He will make his debut in a stage version of the Stephen King novel "Misery." Elizabeth Marvel will star alongside him. Dates and a theater will be announced later. Everyone involved has to be hoping this show won't have the same fate as the play based on King's novel "Carrie." That 1988 production is considered one of the biggest flops in Broadway history.

CONRAD HILTON - GUILTY PLEA

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- For a while, Paris Hilton was best known as an heir to the Hilton hotel chain fortune. Conrad Hilton's claim to fame? He's Paris' 20-year-old brother. Paris' baby bro is getting attention now -- after he acted up big time during a trans-Atlantic flight. He has pleaded guilty to assaulting flight attendants on a trip from London to LA. During his tantrum, Conrad called other passengers "peasants" and threatened to kill crew members. The offense carries a max of six months in jail, a year of probation and a $5,000 fine. Under the plea deal, prosecutors say they will ask for only probation.
