AMERICAN INDIANS WALK OFF SET OF ADAM SANDLER MOVIE

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- The collaboration between Netflix and Adam Sandler was supposed to produce hits and laughs. But so far, it has produced controversy -- and a set walkout. A group of American Indian actors left the set of Sandler's movie -- upset over what they say was a script that featured stereotypical comedy, offensive names and demeaning references to Indian religious practices. One actor, Loren Anthony, says he and eight others quit work on "The Ridiculous Six" when producers ignored their complaints. For its part, Netflix seems to be defending Sandler's work. It says the movie is called The Ridiculous Six because it's supposed to be: ridiculous. The network describes the movie is supposed to be "a broad satire of Western movies and the stereotypes they popularized."

AP Entertainment Editor Oscar Wells Gabriel reports a group of American Indian actors have quit the Adam Sandler movie "The Ridiculous Six."

ACTORS APOLOGIZE FOR SEXIST "AVENGERS" REMARKS

NEW YORK (AP) -- The movie is about the effects of artificial intelligence on the world. But two of the stars of the new "Avengers" movie are apologizing for comments that are being seen as anything but smart. Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans were asked in a press interview about the love life of the only female Avenger, Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson. They described the character in graphic terms that suggested she sleeps around. The actors have issued apologies.

AP Entertainment Editor Oscar Wells Gabriel reports two actors in the upcoming Avengers movie are apologizing for derogatory terms used in comments about a female character in the movie. ((NOTE CONTENT: Cut includes the words "slut" and "whore."))

"GREY'S ANATOMY" - McDREAMY

NEW YORK (AP) -- A shocker for fans of "Grey's Anatomy" -- Dr. McDreamy is no more. The character played by Patrick Dempsey has been killed off the long-running ABC show. It happened in last night's episode. McDreamy dies of injuries he got when he was blindsided by a truck -- this, after helping to treat four people who were involved in a car wreck. The death of McDreamy leaves Meredith Grey to fend for herself as a single mom of two as "Grey's" enters season 12. This year's season finale is next month.

NEW YORK (AP) -- CBS is seeing David Letterman off the air with something a bit more expensive than the typical gold watch you get for retirement. The network is giving him 90 minutes of prime-time real estate for a tribute show. It's set for Monday, May 4 -- and will be hosted by Ray Romano. Letterman's final show on CBS will be May 20. He wraps up more than 6,000 late-night shows over 33 years on CBS and his previous late-night TV home, NBC.

ACTOR GOES FROM PLAYING JESUS TO PLAYING DEVIL

NEW YORK (AP) -- Some actors complain about playing good guys all the time. Others want to break free from playing baddies to portray more virtuous characters. Then, there's Diogo Morgado -- who should have no complaints. He was Jesus in the History channel's 2013 miniseries "The Bible." Now, he will be playing the devil. Morgado plays an evil fellow known as "The Man" on tonight's episode of "The Messengers" on The CW. Morgado says while people think it's more fun to play bad guys -- he doesn't agree.

GLENN CLOSE - TOM STOPPARD

NEW YORK (AP) -- She's received a number of awards herself during her acting career. But this time, it will be Glenn Close who will help honor someone else. She will present playwright Tom Stoppard with a PEN Literary Award. Close knows of his work; she starred in Stoppard's 1984 Broadway production of "The Real Thing."

NICOLE KIDMAN - LONDON PLAY

LONDON (AP) -- Nicole Kidman is returning to the London stage. She will star in "Photograph 51" -- a play about Rosalind Franklin, the British scientist who helped discover DNA's double-helix structure. The play will open in September.
