Martin County moves surplus material via website, saving taxpayer money

STUART, Fla. -- How bout a couple of bucks for a giant desk or a dollar for a book shelf? Little by little all this surplus material adds up, saving taxpayers money.

The way it's done by most governments goes like this. You collect used computers, copiers, even cars ... and sell them at an auction. Martin County used to do it that way.

Now the county posts it online on an auction website, saving on the cost of a formal live auction. Jana Eschbach explains.
