Meal Deals: Saving on Fish
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The best advice to saving money on fish: don't be a fish snob. You should be open to other types of fish.
When you find yourself in the fish market you might expect to spend a little more, but you don't have too. Instead of buying salmon or cod, you can try cheaper fish like talapia or even catfish. It even has the same nutritional value as the more expensive choices.
To save even more check out the frozen fish selection. You can find god deals in the freezer. Fresh fish isn't always as fresh as you might think. All fish has to sit on ice for a long time to get to your grocery store.
Also, don't forget canned fish like tuna. It's even cheaper than frozen fish. You just have to remember fish canned in water is healthy than that canned in oil. The oil adds more fat and calories. I find making salmon patties from canned fish is a tasty and cheap dinner..
