Wildfire 'Maverick' Saves Homeowner's Valuables
Comments 0 | Recommend 0It's like a scene out of a movie...
As flames prepare to engulf a home, a man rides in through the smoke on his motorcycle, rescuing priceless valuables before they burst into flames. Sound like a story, but it's quite real for many wildfire victims.
One of the homeowners in the fire zone is a St. Lucie County firefighter. His house burned to the ground. But thanks to a neighbor. Allen Civita and his family still have some mementos intact.
Father of two, Johnathan Roy, rode into the flames on his motorcycle - no helmet - and saved the Civita family photo albums.
No one was inside the home at the time, and Allen Civita was off fighting the flames at another location. The firefighter and his wife say they are beyond grateful for Roy's good act.
But the Civita's aren't the only family to benefit from this hero, Roy went on to five other homes, removing furniture, suitcases for a disabled couple, pulling a computer from a burning home. and always grabbing pictures. He would then return the belongings back to the families hit by the flames.
Roy says, "I kicked in the door and went room-to-room to make sure there wasn't somebody inside. I was afraid someone might get left or if there older people, I didn't know these people and didn't know who lived here... I figured I was in there, I would at least grab something."
Indiana Jones, you have nothing on this guy...
