FAU President Frank Brogan wants higher education post

The Associated Press

Former Lieutenant Governor Frank Brogan wants to come back to Tallahassee.

Now president of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Brogan said Thursday he wants to be chancellor of the Board of Governors, which oversees Florida's public universities.

A spokesman for the board said the 55-year-old Brogan is the 11th applicant. The board could decide on a new chancellor as early as July 17th.

The job has been vacant since Mark Rosenberg - now president at Florida International University - resigned in February. University of North Florida President John Delaney has served as interim chancellor.

Brogan was elected Florida's education commissioner in 1994.
