Child Leukemia patient contracts swine flu at hospital and dies

Wellington -- A three year old girl fighting Leukemia ends up dying from swine flu after getting the virus while in the hospital in Orlando.  She was at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital.  Jocelyn Davis got sick with H1N1 just days after learning doctors had finally found a bone marrow transplant match for her. She had been battling cancer since she was just eighteen months old.

We checked, and all hospitals isolate children with cancer and don't use re-circulated air in their rooms.  Nurses and visitors sanitize coming in and out of the rooms, but sometimes that's still not enough to keep infection from spreading.  Experts tell us there are still so many germs and contagious disease that are concentrated inside hospitals.

That's why the Kids Cancer Foundation is trying to get a donor to start a six million dollar outpatient clinic for children.  Palm Beach County has outpatient clinics for adults, but none for children.  If there was one, children could get treated for cancer without having to go into a risky hospital situation that puts them at risk for potentially deadly infections.  Tara Cardoso, CBS 12 News.
