Girl Attacked by Cougar, Officials Blame Girl for Attack

A 16-year-old Miami girl is recoverong this morning after being mauled by a cougar. And investigators don't blame the cougar for the attack.

The teen and another man, 21, broke into a wildlife collector's home. Inside, the 150 pound male cougar, named Chaos, pounced on the girl and clenched his jaws around her head.

A next-door neighbor heard the attack jumped over a fence and helped free the teen.

"We heard a girl screaming at the top of her lungs help me, help me, help me, this thing is going to kill me. So I jumped the fence. And I got back there and the cat had the girl by the head."

Wildlife officials say the owner of the home has legal permits to keep the two cougars and several snakes, tortoises and alligators.

Police arrested the 21 year old involved in the break-in.
