Governor Blagovich Speaks On Early Show
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich appeared on the CBS Early Show this morning answering questions from CBS's Maggie Rodriguez. It's part of his media blitz this week. His impeachment trial is underway, but he's boycotting the trial because he says it's not being held fairly. He argues it is not fair because he is unable to bring his own witnesses forward or have the entire tape recording heard. Blagojevich says he's prohibited from bringing in all the tapes to tell the full story. He says listening to only parts of the tapes, only tells part of the story. Maggie Rodriguez asked -- why not fight this and challenge it? Blagojevich says there was no precedent to legally challenge the proceedings. He says instead he is going on talk shows to tell the public this could happen to anyone. He says if this could happen to a Governor, this could happen to any citizen. He also mentioned Oprah Winfrey again saying she was once a consideration for Barack Obama's Senate seat.
