NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL WED AUG 27 2008 ...GUSTAV HESITATES...PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL OVER MUCH OF HAITI...AT 500 AM EDT.....THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM GUSTAV WAS LOCATED BY AN AIR FORCE RECONNAISSANCE PLANE ABOUT 80 MILES....WEST OF PORT AU PRINCE HAITI AND ABOUT 700 MILES....SOUTHEAST OF WEST PALM BEACH FLORIDA GUSTAV HAS SLOWED DOWN AND IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 5 MPH... TOP WINDS NOW ONLY 60 MPH.
WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE TRACKS THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS EVEN THOUGH THE OFFICIAL TRACK KEEPS GUSTAV MOVING SOUTH OF CUBA AND INTO THE NORTH CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO AS A CATEGORY 3 HURRICANE BY SUNDAY AND APPROACHING THE GULF COAST STATES ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY NEXT WEEK!!
