Are You Dining at a Dirty Restaurant?

The state health inspector wasn't going for the egg rolls at the Shangri-La Chinese Restaurant, but the roaches apparently were. That's why this place on North Dixie Highway in Lake Worth was shut down for a day on December 2nd.
The manager, Assad Uddin, told us the restaurant did clean the whole place. He says the inspector came back the next day, inspected again and opened the place back up again. We checked, and the restaurant did pass an inspection the next day after an intense clean up.
Uddin told us the employees had to move everything out of the kitchen, clean and then move everything back. Here's why: the report found a lot of roaches in all areas of the kitchen. The inspector found "eggs" under cardboard on shelves, "one dead" next to the "bamboo sticks" and 75 "live roaches" in one area alone under a table. We asked the manager why it go so bad. He told us the pest control company wasn't that good, so they switched companies.
The manager showed us the kitchen and we didn't see a single roach during our visit. The manager admits that preventing bugs is a team effort and some of the employees weren't doing their share. Uddin told us, "It's not pest control, we have to clean, clean everything." He says employees were told after this to make sure they do a better job of cleaning up to keep the roaches away.
