Slain woman's home was targeted, police say
PORT ST. LUCIE -- A mother of two was shot to death in her home Sunday morning.
Melanie Henningsen, 26, worked as a customer service representative for an insurance company and was raising her two sons, ages 2 and 8.
But early Sunday morning, police say two men entered her home and killed her. Police say the home was targeted and this was not a random crime, but have not offered a possible motive.
Henningsen's boss at JPA Insurance, Donna Barr, described Henningsen as the best employee she has ever had.
Henningsen lived at the Duke Circle home in Port St. Lucie with her boyfriend and children. A cousin in New York made a tribute page to her on Facebook, encouraging friends and relatives to share pictures and memories of their loved on.
While the family grives, investigators continue to search for the culprits.
