Seawall Saga

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

South Palm Beach, FL- A seawall saga is brewing between the town of Lantana and the Imperial House on South Palm Beach.

Lantana town officials provided free beach access to the Imperial House so emergency erosion repairs could take place. Large boulders are being placed along the Imperial House to stabilize the area. It is a four to five day project according to South Palm Beach officials.

However, Lantana town officials tell us, once construction begins on a permanat sea wall for the Imperial House in December, it will come at a charge of $250,000 for beach access to get the work done. Imperial House Board Member Bonnie Fischer says, "It's way beyond our capacity to pay that kind of money."

Lantana Town Manager Mike Bornstein says the $250,000 figure is negotiable, and a series of meetings will now take place to try and reach a compromise.
