Hospice by the Sea

Sometimes the line is not clear when loved ones are seriously ill. Should you keep them in the hospital? Should they come home? Are they in pain? A local family says they got their answers, thanks to an organization that truly does care.

Sylvia Kopkin smiles when she thinks of her husband of 17 years, Jack. "How will I remember him?" she asks. "He was my gentleman."

Jack had Parkinson's disease, but it wasn't until after a stroke earlier this year that his health really started to slip. The Kopkin family was struggling over what to do. Keeping him in the hospital was not an option.

"They wanted to do the testing and needles. They would have just hurt him so badly and for what?" says Jack's daughter, Carol Kopkin.

So they decided on Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton. Carol says it was one of the most peaceful moments she's ever experienced. Her father was surrounded by family when he passed away. Sylvia says Hospice gave them an answer.
