Meal Deals: Picking the Best Peaches and Broccoli
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Whenever you see a good deal you want to take advantage of it and buy extra. To do that with produce there are a few rules you have to know with some fruits and veggies.
Peaches are a great treat, but don't put one in your basket unless it has a background color that is creamy gold. Also look at the dimple. It should be free of color and free of redness. To keep them fresh at home keep them in the fridge or room temperature, but in a brown paper bag to speed up ripening.
Broccoli is another healthy choice for your family. Look for the ones tightly budded and have dark green to almost blue sprouts. If the buds are yellowing or you can spread them out easily with your fingers than it's old.
The best way to keep them fresh is simple. Put them in a plastic bag and then throw them in the fridge until ready to eat.
If you're not a fan of broccoli try putting olive oil, salt and pepper on it and throw it on the grill. Different ways to cook it will help your family eat more of it. That allows you to buy more if you find a great deal.
