Melbourne man in critical condition after lightning strike

A man who took a direct lightning strike is in critical condition in Brevard County.

The man was hit by the lightning Wednesday afternoon as he tried to get out of the water on Melbourne Beach in central Florida.

CPR was administered and he was taken to a hospital. A Brevard County Fire and Rescue spokesman says another person also was hit by lightning on Melbourne Beach. That person too was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.
