Ruth Madoff gets eviction notice
It looks like the wife of the most notorious swindler in Wall Street history may need to find a new home.
According to the New York Post, U.S. Marshals served Ruth Madoff with a court order to vacate her residence.
No details were given as to when the 68-year-old wife on Bernard Madoff would have to pack her bags and leave her posh apartment of Manhattan's upper east side. On Monday her husband was sentenced to 150 years in prison.
Ruth Madoff has consistently denied any involvement in her husband's multi-billion dollar Ponzi scheme. On Monday she issued a statement saying she felt "betrayed and confused" by her husband's actions.
"The man who committed this horrible fraud is not the man whom I have known for all these years," she said.
According to the Post, Madoff's next move is unclear because several Manhattan buildings have refused to rent to her because of her notoriety.
