Mandatory evacuations in NC for Earl

The storm is now covering more area than the state of California.  Its well-defined eye is easy to make out.

Most people are packing up and leaving North Carolina's Outer Banks.  Mandatory evacuations are in place. But there are a few who are staying, even though  North Carolina's governor is telling them it's a bad idea.

Earl is threatening most of the eastern seaboard.  Not since Hurricane Bob in 1991 has so much of the east coast faced a hurricane threat like this.

In that storm there was $1.5 Billion in damage.
Even worse, that hurricane killed 18 people.

After a glancing blow with the Outer Banks.  Earl is expect to come within 30 miles of Nantucket.. hitting that area with 100 mile per hour winds.
