Comments 0 | Recommend 0Therapist charged with falsifying Medicaid claims.
Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced a Broward County therapist has been taken into custody on charges she stole more than $19,000 from the Florida Medicaid program. Marley Cueto allegedly falsified numerous claims to the Medicaid program for services she never provided. She was arrested by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
Cueto, 42, worked as a physical therapist in Broward and Miami-Dade counties and had been under investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit after the Attorney General's Office received information about her billing practices from the Agency for Health Care Administration.
Authorities allege that she submitted numerous claims to the Medicaid program for reimbursement for physical therapy that she never provided to Medicaid recipients, according to information obtained from recipients and their guardians.
Cueto is currently being held at the Broward County Jail. She is charged with one count of third-degree grand theft and if convicted, she faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution.
