South Carolina Governor says mistress is 'soulmate' but will try to 'fall in love' with wife
South Carolina's Governor Mark Sanford may be sleeping in the doghouse permenantly after telling the AP that his mistress is his soulmate, but that he'll try to fall back in love with his wife. The Governor also told the AP he's 'crossed lines' with women other than mistress but never had sex with them.
South Carolina's attorney general is also asking for an investigation into Gov. Mark Sanford's travels after he admitted seeing his mistress more times than previously disclosed. Attorney General Henry McMaster said Tuesday he has requested the State Law Enforcement Division to review all of Sanford's travel records to see if any laws have been broken.
Sanford admitted in an interview with The Associated Press to more encounters with his Argentine mistress than he previously has
disclosed.
The governor described seven meetings with the woman, including their first in 2001. Sanford says there have been five over a 12-month period, including two multi-night stays with her in New York. It was the first disclosure of any get-togethers with her in the U.S.
